Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (how to apply)
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
Qualifications
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
- Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and familiarity with new theories and procedures
- Ability to serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
- Promote socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
- Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation
- Provide practice support and advice to ensure team success during the sports season
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principal

Evenings and weekends required
About the Role
This position reports to the athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals. On-site attendance is mandatory. The goal is to work with students interested in volleyball, fostering both athletic and personal development.
