Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Athletic Coaching License (7-12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department (how to apply)
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association (www.nmact.org)
Qualifications
- Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program
- Previous successful coaching experience in volleyball
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of volleyball
- Commitment to continuing education on new theories and procedures in coaching
- Ability to serve as a positive role model for student athletes through instruction and actions
Responsibilities
- Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success
- Promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes
- Upgrade coaching knowledge and skills through clinics, observations, and consultation
- Provide practice support and guidance to ensure team success during the sports season
- Teach and enforce rules and regulations of the sport
- Advise, coordinate, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and principals
Schedule
Evenings and weekends required. On-site attendance is mandatory for this position.
Reports To
Athletic director, with evaluation provided in conjunction with the high school principals.
