Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. About the role

The ICT SPED teacher will co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion classroom setting to support all students. Responsibilities include co-planning and delivering lessons that incorporate multiple learning modalities, adapting and modifying instruction, and creating strategies and meaningful interventions to support students' learning. KIPP NYC seeks teachers who combine the ability to motivate and educate, develop academic and character skills, and make a college-preparatory education relevant both now and for the future.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum aligned with Common Core standards.
• Bring joy and hope to the classroom.
• Commit to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration.
• Assess student progress continuously, communicate results to families and colleagues, and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Provide individual or small group instruction for students who need additional assistance.
• Model a "whatever it takes" spirit to ensure each student is successful.
• Model KIPP NYC's character strengths in all interactions and communications with students, families, and staff.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment and reflect KIPP NYC’s character traits: zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and a sense of humor.
• At least two years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• New York State Special Education teacher certification is highly recommended.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within KIPP NYC communities.

Pay

KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,829 to $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role, NYS initial or professional certification, and longevity within the KIPP network.

This role is based in NYC and may require travel to our schools. Relocation outside a commutable distance or out of New York State may impact employment.
