CSA School District is hiring a district Special Education Teacher to join an outstanding, hardworking team in the Hartland/Brighton area. Must have a teacher certification and endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that meet curriculum standards and cater to diverse learning styles
  • Develop assessments and evaluate student performance through tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Deliver direct instruction in various settings, including small groups and co-taught classrooms, using evidence-based strategies
  • Provide specialized instruction and support, including academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to ensure inclusion of students with special needs in all aspects of school life
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction and interventions as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress and services provided
  • Stay current on best practices and research related to special education and disabilities
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to support the overall mission
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff

Cognitive Demands

  • Supervise multiple students simultaneously
  • Establish and maintain routines and procedures
  • Create and implement instructional plans
  • Participate in continuous professional development
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift/move objects weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Occasionally sit on the floor or bend down/squat
  • Withstand outside weather conditions at any time of the year
  • Tolerate a moderate noise level
  • Perform first aid/CPR if necessary
  • Assist/lift students as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (Master’s degree is a plus)
  • Valid Michigan teaching certification/license for Elementary or Secondary education with a Special Education endorsement
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, including developing and implementing IEPs
  • Strong knowledge of best practices and research related to special education and disabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
