About the role
Secondary Social Studies Teacher responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned instruction in history, government, economics, and related social-science disciplines to middle-school students.
Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons that meet Nevada Academic Content Standards for Social Studies.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments; use data to inform instruction.
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, department chairs, and school leadership to improve curriculum and instruction.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Participate in professional-development activities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Supervise students during assigned duty periods (e.g., lunch, hall, bus).
Requirements
- Valid Nevada teaching license with a Social Studies (6–12) endorsement or ability to obtain one before the start of employment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of middle-school pedagogy and adolescent development.
- Experience with classroom-management strategies and differentiated instruction.
- Proficiency in using technology for instruction (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Google Classroom, student-information systems).
