About the role

Secondary Social Studies Teacher responsible for delivering engaging and standards-aligned instruction in history, government, economics, and related social-science disciplines to middle-school students.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lessons that meet Nevada Academic Content Standards for Social Studies.
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments; use data to inform instruction.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, department chairs, and school leadership to improve curriculum and instruction.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in professional-development activities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Supervise students during assigned duty periods (e.g., lunch, hall, bus).

Requirements

  • Valid Nevada teaching license with a Social Studies (6–12) endorsement or ability to obtain one before the start of employment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of middle-school pedagogy and adolescent development.
  • Experience with classroom-management strategies and differentiated instruction.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instruction (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Google Classroom, student-information systems).
