Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Alabama Course of Study: Social Studies standards.
- Implement technology-infused, project-based learning experiences that promote inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application.
- Integrate interactive digital tools, including learning management systems, simulations, virtual field trips, and multimedia storytelling platforms.
- Assess student progress through performance-based assessments, rubrics, and formative data.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in school-wide innovation and enrichment efforts.
- Foster a classroom environment that supports equity, cultural relevance, and the development of responsible, informed citizens.
Qualifications (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Alabama Class B or higher teaching certificate in Social Studies for Grades 612 or Middle-Level Social Studies endorsement (Grades 68).
- Proven ability to design and implement instruction aligned with state standards.
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies that support differentiation and student voice.
- Demonstrated classroom experience in middle grades (grades 68).
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to support instruction and assessment.
- Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Social Sciences.
- Demonstrated success with project-based learning and digital integration in the classroom.
- Experience using platforms such as Google Workspace for Education, Nearpod, iCivics, or similar.
