Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Alabama Course of Study: Social Studies standards.
  • Implement technology-infused, project-based learning experiences that promote inquiry, critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world application.
  • Integrate interactive digital tools, including learning management systems, simulations, virtual field trips, and multimedia storytelling platforms.
  • Assess student progress through performance-based assessments, rubrics, and formative data.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and participate in school-wide innovation and enrichment efforts.
  • Foster a classroom environment that supports equity, cultural relevance, and the development of responsible, informed citizens.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, History, Social Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Alabama Class B or higher teaching certificate in Social Studies for Grades 612 or Middle-Level Social Studies endorsement (Grades 68).
  • Proven ability to design and implement instruction aligned with state standards.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies that support differentiation and student voice.
  • Demonstrated classroom experience in middle grades (grades 68).
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to support instruction and assessment.
  • Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated success with project-based learning and digital integration in the classroom.
  • Experience using platforms such as Google Workspace for Education, Nearpod, iCivics, or similar.
