The San Juan Unified School District is seeking a French 1, 2, 3, 4, or AP French teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Responsibilities
- Teach French language and culture to students in grades 6-12
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with state standards
- Moderate and grade student work
- Participate in department meetings and collaborate with colleagues
- Assist in extracurricular activities related to French language and culture
Requirements
- Valid California teaching credential in French
- Experience teaching French at the high school level
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in French or related field preferred
- Knowledge of AP French curriculum and exam preparation
Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English
- Ability to effectively manage classroom and student behavior
- Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes

Note: Candidates must be internal employees to be placed on Column 5; for external candidates, Column 4 is the maximum incoming placement.
For the 2026-27 school year, various opportunities for additional pay include:
- $5,000 - $14,000 annual stipends for hard-to-staff Special Education positions
- $2,000 annual stipends for the hard-to-staff positions of counselor, social worker, and teacher librarian
- $3,000 annual stipend for advanced degrees
- $1,000 - $4,500 annual stipends for various extra-curricular activities
- $1,500 - $6,000 annual stipends for various "leadership" roles
Benefits included for teachers and counselors/teacher librarians:
- Length of work year: Calendar 2 (10 Months/Year, 186 Days/Year, 5 Days/Week, Professional Work Day)
- Length of work day: Professional Work Day
