About the role
The primary role of the Read By Grade 3 (RBG3) Learning Strategist is to support the implementation of the Science of Reading approach in the classroom to improve literacy outcomes for students in grades 3 and below. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and a proven track record of enhancing student achievement in literacy.
Responsibilities
- Modeling teaching behaviors to adult learners in various settings such as workshops, seminars, and courses.
- Providing professional learning that aligns with high-quality, standards-based literacy instruction.
- Leading instructional teams and departments to ensure alignment with the Science of Reading principles.
- Assessing and evaluating student progress in literacy and making data-driven decisions to improve instructional strategies.
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective literacy programs.
Requirements
- An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of three (3) or more years of contracted teaching experience at the elementary school level with effective or highly effective yearly evaluations.
- Demonstrated a positive impact in measurable student outcomes in literacy.
- Completion of an NDE-approved Science of Reading professional learning course.
- Experience in providing successful professional learning aligned with high-quality, standards-based instruction in literacy.
- A Standard-Elementary: Grade Level K–5 or K–8 teaching license issued by the NDE.
- A valid driver’s license or state-issued identification card.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in literacy preferred.
- Reading specialist endorsement preferred.
- Evidence of ongoing participation in professional learning.
Skills
- Strong understanding of the Science of Reading principles.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor others in literacy instruction.
- Proficiency in using data to inform instructional practices.
