Founded in 1995, KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of 18 free, public charter schools in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Manhattan. About KIPP NYC College Prep High School

KIPP NYC College Prep High School (CPHS) opened in 2009 to serve students from KIPP middle schools and other NYC students seeking a rigorous, college-preparatory program. Located in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, CPHS educates over 2,000 students in grades 9–12 across two locations. The school offers 16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, 17 Dual Enrollment courses, and 13 Honors courses, alongside a wide range of electives, 25+ clubs, and 13 varsity and junior varsity sports programs. CPHS provides comprehensive college and career counseling, ensuring students engage in enriching summer programs, develop career plans, prepare for the SAT, and enroll in colleges or career pathways aligned with their goals.

Since its founding, 99% of CPHS students have graduated, 91% have matriculated to college, and 49% have earned a college degree within six years. Beginning in 2026–2027, CPHS will expand to a new facility, transitioning to a Lower School and Upper School model with industry concentrations for grades 11–12. The new building will feature 40 classrooms, eight science labs, double gymnasiums, a commercial kitchen, a cafetorium, a 10,000 sq. ft. rooftop play space, and dedicated arts, music, health, and fitness rooms.

About the Role

KIPP NYC is seeking teachers who can motivate and educate students, develop both academic and character skills, and make a college-preparatory education relevant for their future.

Responsibilities

• Plan a college-preparatory curriculum aligned with school standards, New York State Standards, and critical thinking objectives.
• Execute rigorous daily lessons that prepare students for college.
• Assess student progress and communicate results to students, families, and colleagues.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to ensure all students achieve mastery.
• Model KIPP NYC’s character strengths (zest, grit, hope, social intelligence, gratitude, and humor) in interactions with students, families, and staff.
• Advise a small group of students to support their success throughout high school.

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills and alignment with KIPP NYC’s character values.
• At least two years of teaching experience (strongly preferred).
• New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area (strongly preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree (required).
• Passion for teamwork and a mission-driven school culture.
• Commitment to professional growth and improving as an educator.
• Demonstrated success in raising student achievement within KIPP NYC communities.
