About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at Region One is responsible for providing instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting. The role requires a deep understanding of special education principles and practices, as well as the ability to collaborate with other educators, families, and support staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and goals.
• Provide differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students in a self-contained classroom.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, school psychologists, and administrators to develop and implement effective educational strategies.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid teaching certificate in Special Education or a related field.
• At least two years of full-time teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals and groups.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral disorders.
• Experience with assistive technology and accommodations.
• Experience with data collection and analysis.

Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
