2026/2027 Adjunct Lecturer - Master of Social Work (MSW) Program

Summary

SUNY Brockport invites applications for anticipated part‑time adjunct faculty openings in the Master’s of Social Work (MSW) program.

Location: SUNY Brockport. Division: College of Education and Health. Department: Social Work. Job Type: Adjunct Part‑Time.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses (100% effort) that may include Brief Assessment and Diagnostics, Cultural Humility, Clinical Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and/or Policy.
• Review the assigned course syllabus, plan and prepare lessons, and evaluate student performance.
• Engage in experiential and hands‑on education when appropriate.
• Produce effective course materials and achieve student learning outcomes.
• Hold open office hours for students and advise/assist them via videoconferencing, phone, or email.
• Integrate anti‑racist, anti‑oppressive, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ADEI) pedagogy into teaching.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and course lead to align content with program learning outcomes, required contact hours, and timely grading/feedback.
• Provide students with an approved syllabus that includes learning outcomes, teaching methodologies, and assessment criteria.
• Maintain required contact hours, adhere to syllabus requirements, and deliver timely grading and constructive feedback.
• Identify course texts and associated readings; design engaging assignments, deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria in collaboration with the Course Leader.
• Utilize the university’s learning management system (Brightspace) to enhance the classroom experience, communicate with students, and post the syllabus, assignments, and grades.
• Communicate student engagement or support needs and notify the Program Director of any student issues or concerns.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support skill development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master of Social Work from a CSWE‑accredited program.
• Minimum of two to four years of post‑master’s practice experience.
• Licensure (LCSW/LICSW) required for those teaching clinical courses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching graduate‑level courses, such as but not limited to social work practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, cultural diversity, mental health, and policy.

$5,500 stipend per 3‑credit course or 3‑credit course equivalent. May be benefits eligible.
