2026/2027 Adjunct Lecturer - Counselor Education

Summary

The Department of Counselor Education at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for anticipated part‑time adjunct faculty openings. Adjunct faculty are responsible for teaching assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses during designated semesters. Courses may be offered in‑person, hybrid, or online formats using Brightspace, SUNY Brockport’s learning management system.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses.
• Read and review all course‑related materials (e.g., required textbooks, articles, manuals) prior to the start of the course.
• Read the EDC Adjunct Manual and adhere to its policies and procedures.
• Prepare weekly lecture materials and activities.
• Create the course in Brightspace, uploading all needed materials, assignments, and activities, and make them available to students one week before the semester begins.
• Review emails received at the SUNY Brockport assigned email address daily and respond within 48 hours.
• Grade all completed student assignments within one week of receipt.
• Provide supportive, developmental, and corrective feedback on academic and professional disposition areas of concern as needed throughout the semester.
• Notify and collaborate with the EDC Chair on any academic or professional disposition concerns as they arise.
• Complete and monitor all required paperwork, including Course Incomplete and Incomplete Removal forms.
• Submit student grades via Banner by the semester due date.
• Consult with the EDC Chair as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized institution, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching and/or supervision experience.
• Graduated from a CACREP‑accredited counseling program.

Salary and Benefits

$5,500 stipend per 3‑credit course or 3‑credit course equivalent. May be benefits eligible. Additional benefit information is available at Careers@Brockport.
