202-06 Direct Support Professional

About the role

Venture Community Services provides support to individuals facing diverse challenges through a compassionate and dedicated workforce using innovative practices that encourage independence, empowerment, and opportunity. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and assisting with medical appointments, banking, community activities, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines.

The DSP must be able to safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency. DSP workers must maintain certifications, handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies, and follow all DDS regulations/policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (e.g., household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing).
• Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.
• Assist individuals in becoming active members of their community through outings and engagement.
• Safely evacuate individuals from the home during emergencies.
• Maintain certifications and comply with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Qualifications

• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community and lives.
• Varied interests and personal connections in the local community.
• Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
• Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member.
• 21+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts.

Skills

• Paid New Employee Orientation.
• Paid CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP) training.
• Program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Pay

$17.50 - $19.50 per hour. Paid training provided by Venture.

Schedule

Sun-Mon 3p-11p, Wed 3p-11p, Thu 9a-11a, Sat 9a-11p. Full time: 40 hours per week.
