About the role
This position assists in controlling expenses, ensuring compliance and coordination with federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements, interpreting and enforcing company policies, maintaining non-union programs, determining manpower needs, making staffing recommendations, preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, solving problems effectively with appropriate follow-up, and overseeing housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Avoids waste and ensures efficient use of resources
- Ensures compliance with federal meat inspection and OSHA requirements
- Interprets and enforces company policies
- Maintains non-union programs
- Determines manpower needs and makes staffing recommendations
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports
- Solves problems effectively with appropriate follow-up
- Works with department heads to achieve production, quality, yield, labor, and performance goals
- Oversees housekeeping, safety, sanitation, security, and food safety standards throughout the facility
- Manages, evaluates, and trains production supervisors
- Oversight of designated shift operations
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience required; college degree preferred
- Experience: Five or more years of related industry experience and five or more years of supervisory experience in a meat processing facility required. Poultry processing experience preferred
- Knowledge: OSHA, USDA, and HACCP regulations
- Computer Skills: Standard computer proficiency
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with hourly team members, supervisors, upper management, and government officials
- Special Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage subordinate supervisors and plant team members in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Qualifications
- Must lead by example, effectively delegate responsibility, exercise sound judgment and decision-making, and demonstrate strong managerial skills
- Maintain excellent safety and attendance records and be able to work collaboratively with department heads to achieve safety, production, quality, and yield goals
