1st Shift - Shop Assistant

About the Role

This position will assist the maintenance department in pulling parts from inventory and delivering them as needed throughout the greenhouse facility.

Responsibilities

• Deliver equipment parts throughout the facility
• Load and unload trailer trucks when needed
• Work closely with the department team to service equipment as needed
• Replenish inventory items when pulled
• Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment
• Complete all paperwork associated with equipment maintenance and safety
• Operate forklift, scissor lift, and one-man lift
• Use hand and power tools properly when needed
• Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• 1 year of forklift experience
• Comfortable occasionally working at heights above 6 feet
• Basic computer skills
• Fluency to read, write, and understand the English language
• Ability to work in all outdoor elements, including various weather conditions, dust, and allergens
• Ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, reach, and twist for up to 8+ hours per day
• Utilization of fine motor skills, including pinching, squeezing, and pulling
• Ability to operate all necessary machinery and obtain required certifications
• Ability to work at heights over 6 feet
• Ability to utilize and communicate via a 2-way radio
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as business needs arise and during peak seasons
• Ability to lift 35 pounds unaided and regularly lift up to 50 pounds with assistance

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of common hand tools and power tools
• Some knowledge of plumbing fittings and correct terminology
• Common knowledge or experience with general automotive service

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position is primarily outdoors but may require working between locations and within an indoor office environment for administrative duties. Administrative tasks may include the use of computers and standard office equipment.
