1st shift Quality Inspector
About the role
RRD is a leading global provider of marketing, packaging, print, and supply chain solutions that elevate engagement across the complete customer journey. This position performs visual inspection of printed materials for defects to ensure products meet quality conformance specified by the customer.
Responsibilities
- Perform “samples” selection and package for shipment.
- Perform visual inspection of random samples of product selected during a production run, or post production, looking for a variety of possible defects such as ragged edges, torn or wrinkled pages, incomplete cuts, incorrect bindings, smeared or blotched colors, dirt on the product, and any other visual defect that is out of specification.
- Follow inspection checklist and record any identified defects.
- Follow established quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure product meets quality conformance specified by the customer.
- Prepare written reports and provide notification to manufacturing management of known or found defects.
- Identify potential issues and involve department Lead and/or management to determine an appropriate solution.
- May assist with special projects or more complex customer orders.
- May assist with disposition of defective or non-conforming product.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 2 or more years of experience in a quality control/assurance function in a printing environment required.
- Good knowledge of general administrative and manufacturing operations procedures and knowledge of job-specific processes key to successfully execute and complete the duties of the job.
- Strong oral and written communication skills sufficient to explain quality policy, methods, and/or procedures when completing assignments, as well as provide a level of detail required to resolve issues.
- Very good organizational skills sufficient to accomplish work by established deadlines and ability to coordinate phases of work with others.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $17.50 - $27.00 per hour. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
