1ST SHIFT HUMANE HANDLING TECH
This position will be responsible for monitoring the care and handling of livestock from the time they arrive on JBS property. The employee will spend the majority of their time in the truck/pen areas.
Responsibilities
- Verify that all humane handling SOPs are being carried out, including scheduling, unloading, training, handling of non-ambulatory animals, driving, and stunning (including hands-on assistance with difficult hogs in trucks and drive alleys).
- Monitor and assist in slow hog movement and correct SOP coverage.
- Audit and document each activity, including remote video auditing.
- Ensure livestock truck drivers are certified in TQA training, provide training as required, and maintain training records.
- Maintain good communication with USDA/FSIS regarding humane handling matters.
- Ensure animals are properly transported by monitoring equipment and seasonal preparation.
- Monitor animals for visible defects that may impact yields or quality, provide feedback to Procurement for producer communication, and maintain a monitoring database.
- Assist in emergency response situations.
- Maintain implementation of the four elements of the Systematic Approach during each shift.
- Participate on the facility Animal Welfare Team.
- Perform other duties as determined by the Livestock Handling Manager.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the industry is beneficial.
- Good basic math and people skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work well without direct supervision.
- Ability to work with live hogs.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Good attendance record.
- Self-starter and team player.
- Resume required.
- Can perform job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay
Base salary range of $21.60 – $23.85 per hour.
Schedule
1st Shift, flexible as required. Saturday hours as needed.
