About the role
A successful Packager prepares product for shipment both manually and via electric powered industrial equipment with lifting devices, such as motorized pallet jack and/or reach truck. Packagers prepare and package customer product in a safe and efficient manner while following the instruction of the Line Lead and Quality Lead. The role involves following corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and reporting noncompliance when observed, as well as observing all company safety rules and assisting in enforcement as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Perform operations and safety checks on equipment using a checklist prior to use; sign off on checklist or report variances to supervisor.
- Safely operate all equipment in assigned area, including powered industrial equipment.
- Use pick sheets, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or facility WMS acquisition devices to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed from temperature-controlled or non-controlled rooms.
- Remove product to be shipped from designated pick locations by hand and/or powered industrial equipment.
- Select product using WMS according to predetermined sequence (e.g., product code, expiration date, FIFO where required).
- Place orders on pallets or transport them to packing, wrapping, or shipping stations by hand or powered industrial equipment.
- Mark product with proper identifying information and compile tally sheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Count product and record amounts for shipment verification, ensuring zero over/short.
- Replenish pick locations from stock by hand or via powered industrial equipment.
- Change powered industrial truck batteries.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area by practicing "clean as you go" housekeeping.
- Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance.
- Observe and enforce all company safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a varied, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs.
- Ability to sit, walk, or stand for long periods of time.
- Adhere to all PPE standards in the distribution center (e.g., steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, safety vest, or other site-specific requirements).
Schedule
Monday to Thursday (Friday/Saturday overtime as needed). Hours: 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Pay
$17.00 per hour.
