1st Class Handyperson - Norfolk VA

About the role

We are seeking a 1st Class Handyperson to join our team at BAE Systems Inc.

Responsibilities

• Complete grinding, scaling and other surface preparation activities
• Complete cutting and tacking work; be familiar with hot work requirements
• Able to measure and cut pipe
• Help mechanics and tradespeople with installations, maintenance, and repairs
• Follow safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Work Authorization Forms (WAF)
• Work with hand tools, power tools, and small shop equipment
• Maintain clean and safe job sites while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 to 2 years' relevant trade experience
• Read blueprints, use a tape measure to 1/16", and understand basic math and measurements
• Stand or walk for long periods, work in confined spaces, and wear required safety gear
• Ability to obtain a government access badge
• U.S. Person required
• U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred qualifications

• 5 years experience in maritime/marine industrial operations

Pay

$19.00 to $23.00 per hour ($39,520 to $47,840 annually). Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as shift differentials or the terms outlined in an applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
