164818 Clinical Professor of Cardiology with special focus on Intensive Care in critical Heart Disease (Fixed-Term, 5 Years)

The University seeks to appoint a clinical professor of Cardiology with a special focus on Intensive Care in Critical Heart Disease. This externally funded, fixed-term position (5 years) is combined with a consultancy at Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet, Department of Cardiology in the Capital Region. Applicants must be accepted for both the professorship and the consultancy; two separate applications are required.

About the role

In assessing applications, primary emphasis will be on the applicant’s ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within Cardiology. The position is financed by Copenhagen University Hospital - Rigshospitalet.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and establish an infrastructure for large-scale clinical trials in intensive care for critical heart disease, including management of patients resuscitated from cardiac arrest, with pulmonary embolism, and critical heart valve disease.
• Establish a multidisciplinary research initiative to mitigate long-term complications of critical heart disease.
• Conduct research, including publication and academic dissemination.
• Provide research-based teaching and associated examinations, including supervision of medical and technical university students, PhD students, and teaching courses in the medical science curriculum, particularly in the management of acute and critical heart diseases.
• Lead a multidisciplinary research group focusing on collaborative clinical trials in intensive care for patients with critical heart diseases.
• Share knowledge with society, including participation in public debate.
• Perform academic assessments.

Requirements

• Document a high degree of original academic production at an international level, including considerable contributions to the development of the academic discipline.
• Manage research and other management functions, including engagement in the university’s external academic activities, as well as knowledge and technology transfer.
• Provide research-based teaching.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal and communicative skills.

Pay

The appointee will receive a pensionable annual honorarium of DKK 219,882.33 (1 August 2026 level). The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2026.

Schedule

This is a full-time, fixed-term position limited to a period of five years. Extension is possible if the employed candidate performs well in the position.
