About the role

The Accountant I supports the daily functions of the Accounting Department by performing routine accounting activities under the supervision of senior accounting personnel. This role ensures the accuracy of accounting records and supports timely financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare invoices.
• Prepare general ledger entries.
• Perform general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assist with other accounting duties as assigned.
• Maintain a positive attitude, flexibility, and problem‑solving skills when addressing internal and external customer inquiries.
• Escalate issues in a timely manner.
• Continuously improve general ledger research skills and develop intermediate‑level Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least 18 credit hours in accounting or finance.
• No previous work experience required.
• If the degree is not in accounting or finance, a minimum of 18 college credits in accounting or finance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree with a major in accounting or finance.
• Previous internship or work experience in government accounting or healthcare.
• Experience with general ledger entries.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $21.46 – $24.46. Additional differentials of up to $1.00 per hour may be applied for previous experience, career‑ladder specialty, or tenure with BTCS. Annual salary range: $44,636.80 – $50,876.80.
