About the role

This open position is in a highly behavioral residential home setting. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Their support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals to medical appointments, banking, and community outings
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and goals
  • Follow medical guidelines and maintain certifications
  • Assist with household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing
  • Safely evacuate individuals from the home in the event of an emergency
  • Handle job-related duties in compliance with Agency policies and follow all DDS regulations/policies

Requirements

  • 21+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience working in a residential setting with highly behavioral individuals
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the program and individuals supported, which may include holidays, overnights, or double-shifts

Training

DSP workers are provided paid New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Pay

$19.50–$21.00 per hour

Schedule

Part Time: 30 hours per week, Sunday–Tuesday, 11:00 p.m.–9:00 a.m.
