About the role

The Food Service Associate ensures customer service is the first priority by providing a friendly and efficient experience for guests. This role involves routine food preparation, customer assistance, and collaboration with the Store Kitchen Manager and Store Manager to control store operations and inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with finding products and provide product information.
  • Prepare food as directed and operate food production equipment.
  • Stock coolers and shelves, ensuring a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on store equipment.
  • Operate the register to process cash and credit card payments.
  • Assist in training new and existing team members on food preparation, customer service, and kitchen safety procedures.
  • Arrive to work on time and adhere to GATE standards for uniform and appearance.
  • Attend required training, safety courses, and meetings.
  • Greet customers, assist with inquiries, and ensure a friendly checkout experience.
  • Handle payments following GATE policies and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Reinforce and abide by federal, state, and local regulations, including company policies.
  • Maintain or obtain Food Safety Certification.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, including restrooms, floors, and storage areas.
  • Follow all food safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
  • Prepare made-to-order food items according to standard recipes and portion guidelines.
  • Accommodate customer requests for menu customizations while maintaining food quality.
  • Provide friendly and efficient service, assisting customers with menu choices.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Kitchen and Store Managers.

Requirements

  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and split shifts.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending English to communicate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements.
  • Capability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and reach, including overhead.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment with exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.

Qualifications

  • Basic mathematic knowledge and ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Strong customer service skills and product knowledge to assist customers.
  • Preferred experience in a convenience store, restaurant, fast food, or related environment.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety.
