About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best.

The DSP may assist with medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, goals, and medical guidelines. DSP workers must safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency, maintain certifications, and comply with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Paid training includes New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program- and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities (household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene, etc.)
  • Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities
  • Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans
  • Ensure safety and compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations
  • Safely evacuate individuals in case of emergencies
  • Maintain required certifications and training

Requirements

  • 21+ years of age with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts
  • Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities to participate fully in their community
  • Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member

Pay

$17.50–$19.00 per hour

Schedule

  • Full-time: 40 hours
  • Thursday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM
