1.00 FTE Middle School and High School American Indian Education Staff

1.00 FTE position sharing duties in both the middle school and high school settings.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen and promote a positive experience and educational outcomes for American Indian students.
• Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and faculty to support academic, social, emotional, and cultural needs, empowering students to fulfill their potential.
• Provide strategies to improve comprehension, testing skills, and a smooth transition from middle school to high school, leading to graduation completion in four years.
• Offer guidance and opportunities for a positive transition into post-secondary college and career preparation.
• Available beyond the school calendar for evening/weekend student, parent, and community meetings and events, as well as some summer hours.

Requirements

• Native American preference.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred (minimum of an associate degree).
• Knowledge of American Indian nations, specifically the Dakota of Mni Sota Makoce.
• Knowledge of American Indian education programs and state and federal laws pertaining to American Indians.
• Experience working with American Indian youth and families.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
• Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
• Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.

Pay

$21–$25/hour based on education and experience.

Schedule

180 contract days.
