About the role
The role involves laying-out and installing forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts for concrete structures in accordance with plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. It also includes participating in safety-related processes and programs.
Responsibilities
- Use appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts.
- Erect built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms according to specifications.
- Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber.
- Build wooden structures such as scaffold supports and shelters according to specifications.
- Pour concrete into finished forms to specified textures.
- Vibrate, level, smooth, and shape the surface of concrete.
- Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using a power grinder or chisel and hammer, and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
- Install all other items in accordance with applicable plans and specifications.
- Engage with your work team to ensure zero injuries.
- Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed.
- Identify safety hazards and take necessary corrective actions.
- Follow lockout/tag out procedures.
- Attend site-specific training and follow outlined procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience working as a carpenter or similar craft.
- A strong working knowledge of the erection of all types of concrete structures.
- Working knowledge of auto-level and transit for accurate lay-out and verification of finished grades.
- Thorough knowledge of steel framed forms (Symons).
- Proper tying techniques for fabrication and placement of rebar.
- Placement of concrete and sealing.
- Necessary tools (see Industrial Carpenter tool list).
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Skills
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions.
- Listen to co-workers' suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations.
- Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
- Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Assure crew plans, lay-outs, diagrams, installations, and repairs in accordance with plans and specifications.

Pay
Salary Plan CAR: Carpentry Job Grade 200.
