About the Role

The Color & Curl Concierge / Colour & Curl Specialist serves as our industry steward, showcasing our leadership in color-related services and talent development across technical, social media, business, and selling skills. Beyond daily sales associate duties, this role drives sales by enhancing customer retention, building lasting relationships, and increasing brand awareness and hair color market share.

This position involves market analysis, selling approved beauty products, introducing new concepts, providing customer service, and conducting product education both in-store and virtually. The specialist offers color and curl/texture consulting services to professional beauty salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed cosmetologists, with a primary focus on growing the color and curl business.

Extensive education is provided through online guided learning and certification courses.

Responsibilities

  • Determine customer color and care-related needs and provide professional advice and recommendations to ensure customers have the knowledge and products needed to meet their clients' needs.
  • Communicate upward and cross-functionally regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, follow-up plans, and any assistance needed with customers, associates, and vendors.
  • Resolve customer concerns and questions in a timely, appropriate, and effective manner.
  • Maintain high standards of color and curl merchandising, placement, store signage, and proper display techniques to align with brand guidelines and create an inviting atmosphere.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, remain agile in response to market changes, and build industry knowledge to share with business partners while adapting personal sales techniques.
  • Perform store opening and closing procedures, including occasional bank deposits and cash handling or other monetary transactions.
  • Demonstrate CosmoProf/BSG Culture Values and adhere to the company code of ethics and behavior.

Requirements

  • One year of retail or other sales-focused experience.
  • Licensed cosmetologist highly preferred in the US and Canada.
  • Reliable transportation to service designated stores and markets.
  • Ability to travel to shows and/or sales meetings a minimum of 3 times a year.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to read, interpret, and act on sales reporting.
  • Working knowledge of retail sales, inventory control systems, and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of POS applications, computers, iPads, mobile devices, and social media platforms.
  • Commitment to working scheduled hours with flexibility to work additional hours based on business needs.
  • Ability to work in other stores and in the field as required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional image and positive public interaction skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Must pass a Color Certification Test within 60 days of hire to remain in the position.

Working Conditions

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts typical of offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, residences, or commercial vehicles. Normal safety precautions are required, such as safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations, and traffic signals.
