About the role

Performs moderately complex tasks and task leadership to a process team responsible for the manufacture, assembly, repair or modification of products. Work is guided by diverse procedures, processes and/or technical methods of varying complexity. Incumbents have some freedom to select best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as trainer and problem solver, balances personnel and facilitates the movement of product(s) through designated area of responsibility.
  • Monitors the conduct, performance and contribution of trainees.
  • Performs manual assembly, operation of automated assembly equipment, operation of automated test equipment, and inspection and repair of products.
  • Monitors quantity and quality output and supports production or prototype team to meet group goals.
  • Compiles data and generates reports on trainee performance.

Requirements

  • Must possess specific certifications as defined by site operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of assembly process and product process flow.
  • Ability to recognize problems in the assembly process or with assembly components and to address those problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work effectively with team members.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to accurately perform tasks in the applications appropriate to the area.
  • More advanced manufacturing system knowledge.

Qualifications

Typically requires one to two years of relevant experience and a high school diploma and additional courses after high school, or an equivalent combination of education and experience and a commitment towards further / additional education.

Physical Demands

Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional to frequent exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc. Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions requiring manual dexterity and precise hand/eye coordination, sitting and or standing in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.

Skills

  • Foundation skills and appropriate technical / leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel and Documentation control systems.
