About the role

This position provides administrative and clerical assistance to the Voting Sites Division of the Elections Department, performing various assignments in office and monitoring, visiting, communicating, and coordinating with early voting and election day polling locations.

Vote Center Support staff are the primary source of communication, coordination, and information between the Elections Department, Dallas County Commissioners, and property owners and managers, and also perform on-premise ADA assessments for polling locations to ensure ADA standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Voting Sites Supervisor for daily assignments, updates, accomplishments, and any issues requiring attention
  • Performs daily administrative and clerical tasks, including answering phones, scheduling, and organizing documents
  • Communicates with Vote Centers property owners and maintains contact and vendor information
  • Conducts ADA assessments, which requires driving
  • Assists with planning for and arranging the placement of temporary signage/equipment at vote centers to ensure ADA and State of Texas compliance
  • Assists in project management by tracking deadlines and facilitating communication
  • Performs other office duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with effective verbal, in-person, and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Driver’s license, good driving record, and reliable source of transportation are required, with frequent driving required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted, with possible prolonged sitting, standing, and walking

Education, Experience And Training

Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program, with two (2) years of job-related experience or 30 hours of college, or a combination of the two, and experience in a customer service environment is a plus.

Selectees must pass a criminal background check, driving record verification, and I-9 verification, and provide an official copy of their high school diploma/certificate or college transcripts.
