ZT Enterprise Architect, Lead
About the Role
A well-designed, secure network is critical to enabling the Department of Defense (DoD) to accomplish its mission. As a Zero Trust Enterprise Architect, you will play a key role in ensuring that enterprise and mission systems are resilient, scalable, and aligned with evolving operational and security needs. This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic planning, and hands-on implementation to design and maintain secure network architectures across complex environments. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, customers, vendors, and end users to understand strategic objectives and operational requirements, translating them into robust network and security solutions.
Leveraging your expertise, you will support the full lifecycle of network systems, including planning, acquisition, design, installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software components. As a Zero Trust Enterprise Architect, you will lead the design, integration, and operationalization of Zero Trust architectures aligned with DoD Zero Trust strategy and reference architecture. Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and support network and security architectures, including Zero Trust implementation.
- Architect and implement Zero Trust solutions aligned with DoD Zero Trust strategy and target-level frameworks.
- Document complex architectures, support defense programs, and deliver secure, scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate strategic objectives and operational requirements into network and security solutions.
- Support the full lifecycle of network systems, including planning, acquisition, design, installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance.
- Lead the integration and operationalization of Zero Trust architectures in complex environments.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in network engineering and cybersecurity within DoD or federal environments.
- 2+ years of experience designing, deploying, and supporting network and security architectures, including Zero Trust implementation.
- Experience architecting and implementing Zero Trust solutions aligned with DoD Zero Trust strategy and target-level frameworks.
- Experience documenting complex architectures and delivering secure, scalable solutions for defense programs.
- Experience in Identity and Access Management, micro-segmentation, endpoint security, and secure network or cloud architecture.
- Experience working within classified environments.
- Knowledge of DoD security standards, RMF or ATO processes, and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- HS diploma or GED.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting and operating DoD networks in mission or tactical environments, including INDOPACOM or Pacific-based operations.
- Experience transitioning legacy perimeter-based architectures to Zero Trust models.
- Experience with multivendor network and security platforms such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper, Dell, HPE, and VMware.
- Experience with commercial and DoD cloud environments and cloud security architecture.
- Experience applying STIGs and performing system hardening.
- Experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).
- Knowledge of automation, orchestration, and policy-as-code security enforcement.
- CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CCSP, or CCNA Certifications.

Pay
Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD).
