Position Summary

Ensure park cleanliness throughout Prospect Park Zoo.

Principal Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties throughout the park.
• Participate in pest control programs (with training).
• Perform ground maintenance work, including raking leaves, spreading tanbark or gravel.
• Make mail/supply runs to the Bronx Zoo regularly and as requested (requires a valid driver’s license and training).
• Offer aid, help, directions, and provide information to the public.
• Assist in the movement of zoo equipment, supplies, and refuse.
• Assist in maintaining areas beyond assigned ones as conditions require.
• Move furniture or office equipment; set up tables and chairs.
• Enforce Society visitors' rules and regulations and those of the NYC Department of Parks.
• Perform related tasks and duties as required.

Qualification Requirements

• Ability to represent WCS professionally and maintain positive, effective relationships with employees, colleagues, city and other government agencies, outside contractors, and the public.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license (preferred).

Physical Requirements

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Manual dexterity and safe use of tools (e.g., drill, wire cutters, computer keyboard) and custodial equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, pressure washer).
• Occasional climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting up to 50 lb.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and special events as schedule demands.

Pay

Salary Range: $39,816.00 per year.
