Skills Required
- Manage different types of databases, such as hierarchical (IMS), relational (DB2), and file-based (ADABAS)
- Plan and upgrade database environments on a County-established basis
- Verify the health of all the databases
- Database administration technical consulting for application and operations teams
- Maintain production database systems
- Perform technical reviews for existing systems utilizing ADABAS, DB2, or IMS
- Select new or fine-tune existing DBMS software
- Develop logical and physical database designs
- Create overviews of logical database designs
- Create physical databases
- Develop database capacity plans
- Develop and use backup and recovery procedures for databases
- Monitor database performance
- Monitor database space
- Perform database reorganizations
- Perform database replication
- Perform database compression
- Perform database partitioning
- IBM: Z/OS, IMS, DB2, ADABAS, SMP/E, JCL, IMS DB/DC, CICS, ACF2, ASSEMBLER/COBOL/REXX, IBM FILE MANAGER, DELTA/IMS, NATURAL/ SUPERNAT, ENTIREX, CA SPOOL, IMS & DB2 BMC Tools, N20/TRIM

- Mainframe hardware knowledge
Experience Required
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a Systems Programming/DBA
- At least three (3) years of that experience in a lead role
Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or engineering field
