YREP Youth Coordinator (Part-Time)

About the role

The YREP Youth Coordinator is responsible for developing and providing employment-related services to clients primarily in the Chicagoland area. The role aims to facilitate job placement, retention, and increased household income for self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains relationships with businesses for job placement and internship opportunities.
  • Counsels clients on job readiness, vocational training, and employment adjustments.
  • Assists clients in identifying their strengths and career goals through career interest inventories and workforce assessments.
  • Supports clients in transitioning into employment by addressing workplace barriers and retaining employees.
  • Facilitates and analyzes mentoring workshops and job training classes.
  • Conducts trainings on workplace skills such as dealing with conflict, stress, and performance issues.
  • Develops and implements a retention incentive program.
  • Outreach and engagement with employers to establish job orders and referrals.
  • Monitors and reports employment status and salary of clients.
  • Engages clients in career planning and addresses issues affecting job performance and retention.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Human Resources, or Business, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in workforce development, human services, education, job training, vocational services, youth development, or sales.
  • Openness and respect for cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and Positive Youth Development.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with teenagers, young adults, and families.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer proficiency for data entry, communication, and report writing.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license and insurance.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Human Resources, or Business, or equivalent experience.
