About the role

The New York Post Internship Program offers a dynamic, hands-on experience designed to give interns exposure to real world work within the media and news industry. Our interns are highly valued team members who work on meaningful projects that directly impact our business. Throughout the program, interns participate in career building masterclasses that support their professional growth and have the opportunity to build lasting relationships with peers and key leaders in the company.

The New York Post is the nation’s oldest newspaper with the youngest, most ambitious video department. We want to make our mark in digital video and create memorable work and new watching habits among our audience. The legacy of the great headlines conveys the attributes of our videos: bold, irreverent, judgmental, confident and clever. We want to make videos that surprise viewers. We seek someone who believes news doesn’t have to be boring to be news and who appreciates serious and quirky stories.

This internship is scheduled to run from September 14, 2026 - November 20, 2026. Participants are expected to work part time hours (24 hrs/week) and adhere to our on-site work schedule. Open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a BA, MA students, and recent graduates who completed their degree within the past year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the publishing and optimization of video content on YouTube
  • Monitor news and entertainment trends to help pitch and identify timely content opportunities
  • Ensure videos are properly tagged, titled, and categorized
  • Support the team in meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment

Requirements

  • Strong interest in news, ideally hard news and entertainment
  • Previous experience using YouTube as a content management platform (personal or professional)
  • Excellent news judgment and understanding of what makes a story engaging on digital platforms
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Highly organized and deadline-driven, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Familiarity with YouTube Studio, metadata best practices, and video analytics is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in journalism, communications, media, or a related field
  • Experience with video editing or thumbnail creation tools
  • Knowledge of copyright and fair use

Pay

$20/hour
