About the role
The Multnomah Athletic Club is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Youth Strength & Conditioning Specialist to help young athletes build confidence, develop athletic skills, and establish a lifelong love of movement. This role designs and delivers safe, age-appropriate strength and conditioning programs for youth athletes ages 11–18, grounded in Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) principles.
Responsibilities
- Design and lead individualized and small-group strength and conditioning programs for youth athletes.
- Apply Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) principles to create age- and stage-appropriate training plans.
- Assess athletes' movement patterns, fitness levels, growth stages, sports backgrounds, and health histories.
- Maintain regular communication with athletes, parents, and Fitness & Performance team members.
- Accurately manage scheduling, billing, and related administrative responsibilities.
- Collaborate with Fitness Coaches, sport coaches, and other Performance staff to support holistic athlete development.
- Support youth-focused clinics, camps, and special programming initiatives as needed.
- Uphold MAC safety standards, Code of Conduct, and service excellence expectations.
- Respond to club emergency procedures, including Code Blue and Code Red situations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or a related field preferred.
- NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) preferred.
- Equivalent nationally recognized certifications such as NSCA-CPT, NASM-CPT, ACE-CPT, USAW, or similar will be considered.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of youth exercise physiology, growth and maturation, and motor development.
- Knowledge of Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) frameworks and youth performance training principles.
- Experience coaching youth athletes in individual and group settings.
- Ability to create developmentally appropriate strength, conditioning, and athletic performance programs.
- Understanding of fundamental movement patterns, including squatting, hinging, pushing, pulling, carrying, and locomotion.
