Youth Sports Development Director-MD

This is a self‑employed 1099 contractor position to assist with developing youth sports programs in the Montgomery County, Maryland area, working within the parks and recreation center system.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and establish engaging recreational sports events and programs at designated locations throughout Montgomery County, Maryland
• Recruit and identify enthusiastic staff for camps, clinics, and leagues; assist with interviews and vetting process
• Program Planning and Implementation: assess the needs of the population, then plan and staff a variety of sports leagues, fitness classes, and recreational events
• Leadership and Instruction: lead and facilitate group activities, explain mission and vision, demonstrate techniques, and coach participants of various ages and skill levels
• Safety and Risk Management: ensure a safe environment by conducting site visits, explaining and enforcing safety procedures and rules, managing equipment inventory and maintenance, and acquiring basic first aid knowledge
• Administration and Operations: perform administrative duties such as registering participants, tracking participation data, and preparing reports
• Community Engagement: build positive relationships with Recreation Center Directors, participants, parents, staff, and external community organizations to foster interest and support for programs
• Drive sports marketing and branding initiatives to elevate MVP360's presence
• Collaborate with the CEO and Director of Operations on additional projects as needed

Requirements

• Based in the Montgomery County, MD area
• 3+ years of experience in youth sports, recreation programming, or community sports operations
• Educational background in sports management, recreation, or a related field
• Proficiency with email, social media, related communication and promotion tools, and reporting spreadsheets
• Extensive sport‑specific knowledge or general athletics experience; multi‑sport expertise preferred
• Experience with program planning, event operations, and sports marketing execution
• Experience working with recreation center directors
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Has a phone and laptop for contractor work
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Available to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends during the school year
• Confident in leading coaches, sports activities and managing projects with creativity and problem‑solving skills
