Youth Soccer Instructor

Description

The Soccer Instructor is responsible for teaching participants the fundamental skills of soccer in a structured, age-appropriate, and engaging environment. This position focuses on developing skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, spacing, defense, teamwork, and game awareness. The Soccer Instructor will create drills and activities that help participants improve their confidence, understand the game, and build a strong foundation in soccer while promoting safety, sportsmanship, and positive participation.

Examples of Duties

• Lead soccer instruction for youth participants in a safe, positive, and age-appropriate manner.
• Teach basic soccer skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, spacing, defense, and teamwork.
• Plan and organize drills, activities, and small-sided games that keep participants active and engaged.
• Create a welcoming environment where participants of all skill levels feel encouraged and supported.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, and respect among participants.
• Supervise participants during scheduled program times.
• Aid with basic program setup, equipment organization, and cleanup.
• Communicate program needs, participant concerns, injuries, or behavior issues to the Recreation Manager.
• Maintain a professional and positive attitude when working with participants, parents, staff, and the public.
• Follow all City of Holland and Holland Parks and Recreation policies, procedures, and safety expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

• Must have knowledge or experience in soccer.
• Previous experience coaching, teaching, officiating, or working with youth is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
• Must be dependable and available for assigned program dates and times.
• Must successfully complete any required City of Holland onboarding, background check, and training requirements.
