About the Role
Under close supervision, learn and perform a wide variety of office and field maintenance work in the Fall Crest Program (October–January), tentatively starting the second week of October. This opportunity is open to high school students (ages 15–17).
Responsibilities
- Learn and apply progressively higher skills and independent performance in trades and careers, including:
- Parks and landscape maintenance
- Public works maintenance
- Recreation and technical fields
- Office services
- Library services
- Safety services
- Translate learned knowledge into on-the-job performance of assigned tasks.
- Interact and communicate tactfully and effectively with a culturally diverse population.
- Discern potentially dangerous situations and make independent judgments based on standard policy or procedures.
- Follow directions, safely operate a motor vehicle (with appropriate DMV license), and perform essential functions.
Requirements
- At least 15 years of age.
- Valid work permit at time of appointment.
Qualifications
- Skill in learning, comprehending, and applying on-the-job instructions.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate at an appropriate level.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
