Youth Recovery Home Behavioral Specialist (Swing Shift 4pm-12am)

About the role

This position supervises the residents of the MIT Health Division’s Youth Recovery Home (YRH), a 24/7 residential facility for youth. The role aims to provide a drug and alcohol-free environment that promotes healthy transitions to independent living.

Responsibilities

• Assess residents' needs and engage in behavior modification techniques to achieve resident-plan goals.
• Monitor daily living activities to ensure residents' safety and compliance with YRH rules.
• Develop and implement a behavioral level system to reinforce healthy behaviors and reduce negative behaviors.
• Provide education and activities to promote positive social skills, independent living skills, and healthy peer relationships.
• Offer life coaching around various developmental challenges.
• Make appropriate referrals to licensed mental health and chemical dependency professionals when needed.
• Collaborate with external agencies such as schools, employers, MCFS, the court system, treatment providers, etc., to assist residents in achieving their goals.
• Participate in relevant team meetings to ensure comprehensive and collaborative resident care.
• Work with other staff and YRH Supervisor to develop and document case management plans.
• Document and track resident progress towards their stated goals.
• Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all protected health information in accordance with the Division's policies and procedures, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related behavioral science discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Two (2) years of youth residential treatment experience required. Additional two (2) years (four years in total) may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Training in childhood development, social services, child psychology, conflict resolution, behavior modification, milieu treatment, and chemical dependency.

Special Requirements

• A current negative TB test and/or medical documentation stating the employee is not contagious.
• No substance abuse for the past three (3) years and passing UA testing.
• Pass pre-employment criminal background check.
• A current and valid Washington State Driver’s license and CPR certification.
