About The Front

The Front is more than a gym - we're basecamp for Utah's climbing community. Across our Salt Lake, South Main, and Ogden locations, we build spaces that spark real connection, fuel personal growth, and keep people coming back to the wall. We're chalk dust, high-fives, and a community that shows up for each other.

About The Role

As our Youth Programs Instructor, you'll coach and grow the skills of our youth team athletes, run After-School Programs, lead birthday parties, and guide youth groups through their climbing journey. You'll work with kids of every age and ability, keeping the vibe fun, safe, and encouraging every step up the wall.

Location: South Main / SLC Gyms

Responsibilities

  • Deliver climbing instruction and training that meets kids where they're at
  • Design and run age-appropriate programming and skill assessments
  • Greet every participant with genuine enthusiasm - and learn their names!
  • Keep an eye on the wall and speak up when behavior needs a friendly redirect (loose kids in fall zones, gear left on mats, etc.)
  • Make sure kids stay in the right areas so members can climb undisturbed
  • Help maintain gear and program resources around the facility
  • Jump in on other tasks as needed - we're a team

Qualifications

  • You've got a genuine passion for teaching and working with kids
  • You're an avid climber or outdoor athlete yourself - you live this stuff
  • You bring at least 5 years of professional experience (work, school, or training combined), ideally with 1–2 years coaching or instructing climbing
  • You communicate clearly and know how to motivate young athletes with positivity
  • You've got high energy, a great attitude, and thrive working as part of a team
  • You're comfortable reaching, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and staying on your feet through a shift
  • You hold (or are ready to get) First Aid, CPR, Safe Sport, and CWI certifications - we'll train you if you're not certified yet
  • You genuinely care about the guest experience and look for ways to make it better

Benefits

  • Free gym membership
  • Discounts on food and merchandise
  • Hands-on training and certifications (First Aid, CPR, Safe Sport, CWI)
  • A community-driven, climbing-obsessed team culture
  • Room to grow within The Front's programs and departments

Pay

$17–$19/hour

Schedule
