Position Summary

Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Leader; provides supervision of various youth sports and programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set-up all required and necessary equipment in order to get program started on time.
  • Ensure a safe playing/program area by inspecting facility and equipment prior to activity or event.
  • Ensure all additional staff such as scorekeepers, officials and volunteers are on time and ready to complete assigned tasks.
  • Cookordinate with coaches, officials, and other staff to get games, activities and events started and ended as scheduled.
  • Act as a main point of contact and source of information for parents, spectators, players, and officials.
  • Provide the proper clean up after all games, programs and events have taken place.
  • Monitor users including spectators, coaches, and participants to ensure safe use of facilities and equipment.
  • Ensure all spectators, players, and coaches conduct themselves properly and within the standards of the Montrose Recreation District.
  • Document any behavior or acts deemed inappropriate, notifying supervisor or police when necessary.

Position Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • General knowledge of assigned sport or program.
  • Possess previous site supervisory experience or program participation.
  • Able to calmly mediate and diffuse tense situations.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, various community organizations, and the public.
  • First Aid/CPR certification, preferred. Or ability and willing to become certified.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk for up to 60 min at time, sit, talk, hear, read, and write. May periodically need to reach, stoop, crouch, or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits

- Facility Supervisor wage: $17.50/$19/hour - Free Membership to the Community Rec Center after 30 days of hire.
