Youth Program Facilitation

The Browne Center for Innovative Learning is a fee-for-service learning center affiliated with the Department of Recreation, Management, and Policy at The University of New Hampshire in the College of Health and Human Services.

About the role

Facilitators in the Youth & Student Program are essential staff who work directly with clients of all ages from local communities and UNH, delivering customized programming focused on building healthy community, empathy, and connection. Staff use experiential learning theories and modalities that may include virtual or in-person programs as well as built or portable challenge courses.

Responsibilities

• Program Preparation & Debrief (20%)
  • Read and familiarize yourself with all client information provided for each program.
  • Plan program portions based on client goals, group dynamics, and inclusivity needs.
  • Handle program logistics, including setup of ropes course or classroom areas.
  • Design program flows to meet client-specific goals.
  • Conduct post-program staff debriefs, facility de-prep, and feedback sessions.
• Program Delivery (80%)
  • Deliver intentionally designed, scaffolded programs for groups of 6–100+ people.
  • Facilitate icebreakers, name games, and portable challenges.
  • Lead discussions on group and community cultural norms.
  • Facilitate low and high ropes course activities tailored to group function and goals.
  • Manage intentional transfer of learning through framing and debriefing activities.

Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience: A strong background in teaching and/or facilitation, with a minimum of fifty full days delivering educational programs on a ropes course or commensurate/adjacent experience.

Licenses & Certifications: Current First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to acquire them. Must pass an internal technical competency check-off or provide proof of commensurate training and experience.

Skills

• Technical competency on challenge courses (low elements & dynamic high elements).
• Facilitating cooperative games and problem-solving initiatives.
• Designing activity sequences based on client outcomes and needs.
• Strong facilitation background with school-aged populations and/or adults in educational or non-profit settings.

Pay

$50.00 per hour.
