About the role
Alpha reimagines the school day around faster learning, stronger mentorship, and more time for students to build real-world skills. This role involves coaching Pre-K through 8th grade students in life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and giving and receiving feedback.
Responsibilities
- Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops covering public speaking, focus, collaboration, and feedback exchange, adjusting your delivery and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade age ranges
- Conducting daily 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions in which you assess each student's adaptive learning app progress (via Coachbot analytics), establish goals, and hold them accountable to 100% weekly completion
- Administering and scoring Test2Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, not mere attendance or participation
- Intervening with targeted support when a student lags academically or disengages — diagnosing the underlying issue and creating a personalized recovery strategy
- Cultivating authentic relationships with each student so they trust you enough to receive coaching through moments of resistance, distraction, and doubt
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- 3+ years of direct experience working with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities)
- Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the goal, your actions, and the result)
- Comfort with a coaching-exclusive model where all academic instruction is delivered by the learning platform. Your function is motivation and guidance, not subject-matter teaching
- Daily use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
- Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without need for visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programs where you held direct accountability for motivating children to achieve defined goals
- History of personal high achievement (academic distinction, competitive athletics, or leadership positions demanding sustained excellence)
- Innate storytelling skill: you can command the attention of Pre-K–8 students for an hour without needing to raise your voice
- Success re-engaging disengaged or resistant students and converting them into active learners
- Experience supporting students who receive special education services
Benefits
- Full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one
