Youth in need of BIPOC Mentors across Antelope Valley

Description

Youth in Antelope Valley are in desperate need of caring adults like YOU! We are looking for BIPOC community members to mentor BIPOC youth to give them insights and guide them to success.

This is an in-person mentoring program where you will spend time with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about them. You might play basketball together, work on homework, or just try new foods. There is no set curriculum (don't worry, we have activities you can do if you get stuck) but there is a lot of freedom to do anything that interests you both.

What we're looking for

• Caring adults 21 or over who have reliable access to a car
• Able to commit 1 hour a week for a full year
• Someone who is empathetic, a good listener, and wants to make a difference in a young person's life
• A willingness to share your own experiences and mistakes with your mentee

Requirements

• Completion of a background check
• Participation in training
• Availability for support from a mentoring coordinator throughout the program
