About the role
The Youth Development Specialist (Shelter) plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to youth residing at the shelter. This individual will work closely with the shelter staff to ensure the safety and well-being of the youth.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address emotional and behavioral issues.
- Develop and implement educational programs that promote healthy life skills and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records of all interactions and progress reports for each youth client.
- Collaborate with other shelter staff members to develop comprehensive care plans for youth clients.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss case management strategies and share insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience working with youth in a similar capacity.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

The salary range for this position is $30,000 - $40,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
