About the role

The role is designed for individuals who can motivate K-8 students towards challenging goals, using AI-powered applications and life-skills workshops. The position is based at various Alpha campuses across multiple cities, with relocation support available.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life-skills workshops for K-8 cohorts on topics including public speaking, focus, feedback, and other enduring skills.
  • Conducting daily 1:1 and small-group motivation sessions that drive every student to 100% of their weekly app goals.
  • Administering the Test2Pass (Alpha's mastery-based assessment) for each life skill, and coaching students who do not pass until they achieve mastery.
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners to 8th graders.
  • Serving as the adult who maintains high expectations and the adult students want to confide in.

Requirements

  • Willing to work in-person at an Alpha campus in Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ; Oklahoma City, OK; Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, TX; Brownsville, TX; Fort Worth, TX; Houston, TX (Central, South, or The Woodlands); Park City, UT - relocation support available.
  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • At least 3 years of direct work with K-8 students (classroom teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counseling, or youth program leadership).
  • A concrete example of motivating a K-8 student toward a challenging goal.
  • Willingness to allow AI to manage instructional content while concentrating on motivation and life-skills coaching.
  • Basic proficiency in using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship (or in Canada for the Toronto campus).

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth athletics coaching, debate, camp leadership, drama, or after-school programs.
  • Personal record of high achievement (academic, athletic, or professional).
  • Storytelling ability and stage presence sufficient to engage a room of 12-year-olds for an hour.
  • Proven success turning disengaged or resistant students into active, invested participants.

Working with us

This is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level for this role is $50 USD/hour, which equates to $100,000 USD/year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
