Youth Development Professional

About the role

Do you enjoy working with youth and making a positive impact in your community? Boys & Girls Clubs of Utah County & Southern Utah is seeking energetic, caring, and dependable Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) to join our afterschool team.

Responsibilities

• Create positive relationships with youth through mentorship and active engagement.
• Create a physically and emotionally safe environment for all participants.
• Lead and participate in games, sports, recreation, and enrichment activities.
• Facilitate engaging lessons and group activities.
• Support youth social-emotional growth and development.
• Encourage inclusion, teamwork, respect, and positive behavior.
• Absorb and maintain organized program spaces and materials.
• Work collaboratively with fellow staff to create a high-quality program experience.

Schedule

Typical program hours include:

• Monday–Thursday: Approximately 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• Friday: Hours vary by location, earliest start time may be 11:30 AM

In addition to program hours, staff are expected to attend:

• Weekly staff meetings
• Monthly professional development trainings
• Required conferences and training events throughout the year

Qualifications

• Positive, energetic, and enthusiastic
• Reliable and committed to consistent attendance
• Strong communicators and team players
• Comfortable leading and participating in activities with youth
• Passionate about helping young people succeed
• Flexible and willing to support special events and program needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with youth ages 5–18
• Experience in education, recreation, childcare, or youth programs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with Google Workspace and basic computer applications
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
• Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds as needed
