About the role

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) will provide daily programs, services, and activities for Club members, aligning with the organization's youth development mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Create an environment conducive to achieving youth development outcomes by promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Register new members and guide them through the club orientation process.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Maintain and monitor programs, services, and activities to ensure safety, quality, and appearance of the unit.
  • Prepare daily activity reports.
  • Participate in weekly Unit staff meetings to ensure a productive work environment.
  • May participate in special programs and/or events.
  • May be required to drive for Club Activities periodically.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Program Lead or Unit Director.

Relationships

  • Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff, members, and supervisor for information exchange, issue discussion, guideline explanation, instruction, and advice/counsel.
  • External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, member's parents, and others to assist in problem resolution.

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Experience in working with children.
  • Knowledge of youth development.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
  • Ability to deal with the general public.
  • Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications are a plus.
  • Valid identification.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Work Environment: High energy club environment - 100% of time working with children.
  • Regular local travel required.
  • Work schedule may include weekends, depending upon scheduling requirements.
  • Physical & Mental Requirements: High energy level; comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities; superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility; good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.
  • Physical requirements include sight, hearing, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting 5-50 lbs on a daily basis.
  • Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing.

Pay

$10 per hour
