About the role

The Youth Crisis Center Crisis Peer Support Specialist/ Safety Monitor position requires individuals who have a deep understanding of mental health crises and can provide support through their own lived experiences. This role involves supporting youth in crisis, helping them understand their role in accessing services, and promoting recovery and resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to youth experiencing mental health crises by sharing lived experiences
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to de-escalate, treat, and stabilize behavioral health needs
  • Conduct client and visitor check-ins and discharge
  • Communicate with staff on shift and provide assistance by connecting callers to the appropriate staff

Requirements

  • Maintain the safety and security of the center
  • Must be Peer Support certified (see requirements below)

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass background checks, including Enhanced Fingerprinting with ID DHW

Skills

  • Peer support certificate issued by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
  • Ability to obtain Optum Idaho Youth Peer Support Endorsement

Benefits

  • $18-$19/hour
  • Daytime PRN, approximately 5 hours a week
  • PRN stipend for every three shifts covered within a 60-day period
  • Other shifts available: Daytime, Swing, and Overnight
  • Overnight pay differential
