About the Role
The Youth Counselor Internship provides supervision, mentoring, guidance, and support to adolescent males living in a residential treatment program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that promotes growth and success.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision, mentoring, and guidance to residents
- Build trusting and supportive relationships through effective communication and positive role modeling
- Maintain the safety and security of residents and the facility
- Supervise residents during school, recreation, community outings, and daily activities
- Collaborate with clinical staff and case managers to develop behavioral goals
- Encourage positive decision-making and independent living skills
- Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records (EHR) and behavioral documentation
- Record resident progress toward treatment goals
- Participate in training and follow structured program policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in a human services-related field
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license required
- Must successfully complete criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances
- Basic computer skills required
